PROFILE
Church and Clergy Association of Kenya (CCAK) is an umbrella body that brings together Churches and Clergy offering them a forum for sharing their concerns and hopes, in order to have an impactful Church, empowered Clergy and healthy Nation. CCAK is an initiative in response to the challenges witnessed and experienced by both the Church and Ministers of the Gospel during the period of the covid-19 pandemic. The Association aims at amplifying the VOICE of the Church and Clergy to the life of the Nation of Kenya.

CCAK is non-political and is not a church, but an umbrella body. The core mandate of CCAK is to act as a watchdog of the Nation’s spiritual and moral welfare; contribute to peace and cohesion mission among the citizens; empower the clergy; speak for a united
Church; and develop and implement guidelines for self-regulation. It was noted that there are over 300,000 pastors in Kenya, majority of who are not in registered churches and lack empowerment to execute their mandate. The government has not formally recognized the pastors and have no access to government funds, training facilities or other subsidies that would empower them.

CCAK is duly registered with the Registrar of Societies of the Republic of Kenya. The Headquarters is located in Nairobi.
OBJECTIVES
The Association’s five key objectives are as stated here under;

  • Act as a spiritual and moral watchdog of the nation and society by advocating that which is right, just and fair. This will deal with vices such as rampant Corruption, domestic violence, crime and immoralities including underage pregnancies.
  • Unite the church by harnessing the diversity and richness of both the clergy and church and directing the synergy to meaningful and society-impactful missions including evangelism, social support and peace and cohesion initiatives.
  • Empowering the clergy by providing training opportunities, exchange programs, certification, and other empowerment initiatives.
  • Act as an umbrella body for pastors associations, churches and individuals in order to have one voice, develop guidelines for self-regulations and provide alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
  • Facilitate meaningful networking within Kenya and outside Kenya including organizing pilgrim safaris, conferences, coaching and mentorship and peer learning.
